Hello Everyone,
Just had to post this one, it's one of the biggies. I found this last Friday at a local coin club meeting.
It's the 1873 closed 3 Snow-1 double liberty, it's hard to see the doubling on the head band due to the texture of the coin. I can't seem to get a clear pic of it, the coin is an easy VF-30 though.

Very nice sir. I'm going to have to get my dad's old IHC Whitman Folder out. I'm only missing 2 or three to have it full, the 1909-s and 1877 of course. :)

Bonedigger,
With all of the new Snow varieties Rick has added to the latest attribution guides, it would be well worth your time to check out your fathers old set.

Look here for an idea of all of the different varieties, this is a new members census we have just started.

Hi daveyn,
Is the weak 7 in the date a diagnostic feature of this variety or just something else going on?

Hello Biokemist,
We're not sure yet, grease and water strike through's were very common in this particular year. It's not listed as a diagnostic point, and Rick says there are a lot of weak points due to the grease and water, but I'm not so sure it isn't a broken or worn die. hope to do a little more research and find out.
