Here is what came in the mail this afternoon. I purchased the coin for $89.99 and I'm going to keep it as it's a variety which is relatively HTF and I needed it, but the seller really positioned it where the (H) on the obv blended in well, wouldn't you say?

Another great bust! Gotta love that reverse. The sellers pics don't show true depth of the "H" gouge(when compared to your photos), but it is visible.

Either way, definitely a keeper.
Thanks for sharing.

I'll bet some vigorous rubbing/thumbing would smooth that H down to almost nothing, LOL.... Just kidding

Hi Ben,
I like the coin, even with the graffiti. The seller did mention that there was a scratch in the obverse field, so he wasn't being very deceptive about it.
About how much should a similar coin without a scratch cost? Just curious!

The coin could bring $130 or so even with the graffiti, it was a pretty good buy. But IMO a scratch in a field is significantly different than a letter H carved in a field.

The pictures used to advertise the coin really didn't picture the coin accurately. I've taken several pictures and the only way I can get the carved H to look like the 2nd auction photo is to use photoshop...

Ben, you are absolutely right. The seller didn't give an honest description of the condition of the obverse and didn't supply photos that would allow a buyer to fairly estimate the condition, either. There's no doubt in my mind those oversights were intentional.

I love the coin, though, and for the price would have strongly considered it!

I've found that whenever I see a coin listed by that partucular seller I move on. Your coin is a pretty juicy F details, and if it fits your collection and you're planning on holding it for some time, then you'll be fine.
