middross Pillar of the Community Canada 695 Posts	Posted 07/20/2014 8:18 pm Today while visiting the Royal Ontario Museum, my daughter wanted to go to the gift shop to pick out a new book and stuffed animal. While browsing, I found a stack of packages containing replica ancient coins. I am aware that the possession and sale of replica Coins is illegal in Canada.....does this apply to foreign coins and/or ancient coins? Report this Post to the Staff

Canadian law only prohibits replicas of coins that are "current", in Canada or elsewhere. Any Canadian or Provincial coinage is considered "current", as are any foreign coinages that are presently legal tender. But by no stretch of the imagination are ancient coins from anywhere considered "current". There are also laws in place preventing unauthorized replicas of copyrighted or trademarked products being sold. Needless to say, this does not apply to ancient coins either. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
