I always buy the coin and not the holder, as I see preached what to do. As I look through my small meager collection it seem to be leaning twards NGC. And when I go through auction listings and see an eye appealing coin, as in what I collect, it seems more of them are in NGC holders.
It also seems PCGS slabbed coins lean twards the white non colored coins.
What are your thoughts? Does your collection lean one way or the other?

I buy the coin and have coins in PCGS, NGC, ANACS and a couple in ICG & SEGS. It depends on your motive. PCGS will bring the most money so if you plan to flip/sell/auction a coin that is worth serious bucks most go with PCGS. When I slab raw coins I go with NGC due to convenience. They are 30 minutes from my home and I can walk them into the facility. Others are building PCGS registry sets. For the moment I am a collector and could care less what plastic a coin is encased in. Should I endeavor to sell my collection at some point in the future then I will determine what plastic is in my best interest.

I prefer the look of NGC slabs myself. But PCGS has a nice holder too. It's just personal preference. Yep, it's all about the coin itself. An investor will probably prefer PCGS.

CherreePicker now that is nice not having any shipping costs involved. I understand the sellablity of being in the PCGS slab. But I don't agree with it 100%

As you say, I always buy the coin and not the holder. So, I don't have any preference for any of those two TPGs.

I think it is a blend of the coin and the deal. I think PCGS is a little tougher on coins than NGC, but there are nice coins in both holders. NGC holders let more light in and have a white label, which bring out more luster on nice coins.

PCGS holders are nice to look at, but very easily counterfeited. PCGS sends my coins back in blue plastic holders on submissions, NGC is just in a cardboard separator in a box. NGC is a few dollars cheaper to send stuff too and there website is easy to use. The PCGS staff is very nice and call me when there are any questions or I miss something on the submission form. If I had a choice, I would like all PCGS holders. But I don't like PCGS GSA grading holders, so I send stuff to both companies.
