My daughter volunteers at the local historical society in Cedarburg, WI. She was going through some old newspapers that were to be thrown out when she came upon this ad for the door prizes at a local dance that was held on May 17, 1925 (31 years to the day before I was born).

Imagine that these were just ordinary coins back then.

Oh yea, to go back to hear all that great swing. Those great dresses, long necklaces and short hair cuts. The men in Tophats all in their Sunday best. In the parking lot Model T Fords, maybe a big Buick and a Packard, all convertables. And just think of the change in the bartenders tip jar.... "oh nice Mr Bartender I will give you this shiney 1921 dollar coin if you give me those 10 pretty dimes in your jar...Especially that 1916 with the cute little D on the back....

Very cool but remember that Gold was not such a massive expensive thing back then. AND too, how many people even had $3.
