Very nice find! Cool to see that some people recognize what they have and appreciate it.
Somewhat similar story, a collector friend of mine bought a coin just because it had nice toning, and paid a premium for it. I figured the coin to be artificially toned and told him so. He was disappointed, and handed me the coin for a closer look. I looked closer, and while I still said the color wasn't right, I found that the coin was a scarce die variety, and even in its current state was probably the highest grade known for the variety.
Sometimes they fall into mud and still come out clean!
