I remember picking up change from the bank for the family store and those would be mixed in with all the different rolls of change. Never thought anything of it, they were common - and until I saw this thread I hadn't thought about them in years.

see this has brought a few memories back, that's cool. I sent the same pic to my daughter, she's about 5 years in banking now, she's never seen one.

They are still standard, red/pink for pennies, blue for nickels, and green for dimes. I received a few of the penny ones last week, and I have been given a few of the dime ones as well.

Yes I have a whole bag full with the 4 different colours, don't use them as mush now.
Like it was stated already you have to be carful when opening them with coins inside.

Boy, I sure remember those... a real pain to open a full roll, or to stuff the last few coins into a roll when it was almost full... I remember the pink for pennies, white for nickels, yellow for dimes, and blue for quarters colour scheme myself... thanks for bringing back a blast from the past!  |

it's been mentioned a few times about putting pennies in them. You'll all hate me but I was one of those young teens that the odd time out of boredom I'd get out the brasso and clean a bunch of pennies up and put them into those containers. I remember now the pain it was taking them out, turning it upside down and facing them on my bed and giving it a shake,the pennies would go all over, ya what a pain lol.

I got some of the pennies and nickel ones. Pink and white, the things are just cool. They don't break down like paper rolls and the coins don't get stuck in them like in the plastic ones you see today, not only that but there divided into groups of 4 so you can count them while there inside the roll. If I could get more of those things I would. Makes me think about starting a coin supplies collection. |
