Singing Moon mask not even on the MC site and already sold out! Other then being a little pricey I think its the most attractive coin that the mint has ever released for sale.
Any thoughts on this coin

They've done it very well.
If I see correctly, the enameling is transcendent and done over relief elements. Extremely expensive for 1oz coin, but the mintage is almost "nothing". If to think, this is the price of 4 coins "Superman gold coin" style, and they do not have special design ....

Actually it was available on the mint site for a short time this morning,Very short, looks nice but only for people with deep pockets.
I like how they did the enameling on the gold better then the silver but I think the silver coins will look really nice in hand , those pictures don't show much relief/ true color etc.

I absolutely love the design of this mask in both gold and silver set. It's the kind of mask design I've been waiting for. My other favorite is the 1997 Haida mask.
Also noticed that the gold and silver enamel coins have subtle design differences than the silver Antique and the silver Proof versions. Design variances: -The enamel silver and gold versions have rings around the border and rings on the edge of the face. I suppose this is done to keep the enamel within the cavities during application process. -The eyes of the Enamel version points straight as oppose to looking up in Antique/Proof ver. -Enamel version has pronounced upper and lower teeth where on Antique/Proof ver has the tongue covering the lower set of teeths -Antique and Silver proof versions have more details on the face. Looks like the face on the Enamel version is a photo negative of the Antique/Proof ver.

to you TimmyToothGood Post, you have given these coins the once over and detailed well how they are not in fact the same coin with three finishes. Well done. The rings on the enamel versions makes perfect sense, and who else but TimmyTooth could detail the dental differences of the coins, any dentists in the family, Tim?

Thank SilverDon! "Tooth" was only an after thought from my first post. haha
I've visited this forum and RFD for sometime now. Never thought of participating till now. These mask coins have really inspired me. I don't think I will be getting the Gold coin because of price. I would definitely invest in it if I have the resource.

to the CCF, TimmyTooth ! Hope you'll love participating here and RFD - both forums are great! Different views (sometimes) on the same are strongly necessarily. Good observations on the Masks set. Something tells me, that Enameled Silver very similar to Proof and Antique, but the rendered picture somehow came different. Anyway, good Mask...not "comfortable" price for the set, and no expectations that it will be super-hit, but still solid and nice item.

Just ordered a set of the three silver Singing Moon Mask coins. The mintage is about the same as the 2009 Summer Moon Mask and the design every bit as beautiful. I can't imagine that this will not sell out quickly. (I wish I had a fortune so I could buy more (many)!

Hello Timmytooth and beebop...love your usernames Singing moon masks set looks very promising and I love native art... What's most impressive is that these designs are said to be new original designs...not a copy of a previous works... And given the really low mintage...this set will undoubtedly sell out very soon...Gold design looks to be gone already...

Quote: Gold design looks to be gone already The gold coin was sold out mins after it was up on the Mint site. So most likely there was only a handful available at the time as I have heard that Reps reported to have said that 80% were sold in the few days leading up to the M/C release.
