Hello Everyone, I have a question... I raise sheep and collect sheep things... does anyone know of any coins from anywhere... depicting sheep on them? I thought it might be fun to combine 2 of my passions into one... Thanks Kim aka... Sheepy

Snowman ~ that is way cool! He shows 5 coins with sheep. None of them are Australian... I'm pretty sure there are some with sheep from there... Now for the next question... when you decide on a specific coin how would you all go about finding and purchasing it?

I'd post a inquiry in the Buy section here to see if anyone has a coin they are willing to sell. There is always ebay

(I know this is over the top, but hey, it doesn't hurt to look.) On the high end, Charles VI of France issued this gold coin in 1417 which is for sale by Phillipe Saive in France.

I've seen sheep on some Falkland Islands coins but don't know the denominations, though.

There's some Aussie coins with a Ram's head on them. In pre-decimal all the shillings from 1938 - 1963 and in decimal there's the 1991 50¢ which commemorates the 25th anniversary of decimal currency with the same image.
There were some pattern coins in the shillings as well, but they're as scarce as hens teeth.
There are most likely some on (NCLT) Non Circulating Legal Tender coins as well, but I don't know which ones. I also don't know if Australia has done a "Year of the Sheep" coin in the Lunar series.
Australia also had sheep on some Pre-decimal £5 notes and Decimal $2 note. Someone else will probably be able to offer up more specific info than this.

The coin ichirensha is thinking of is a 20 pence piece (1982-1999) from the Falkland Isalnds. Not sure where you are but ebay is usually a good place for world coins.

Pictures are always good. There are quite a few countries in the world that commemorative the Chinese Zodiac and the year of sheep is no exception. Such as: The Merino ram:

A couple others not yet mentioned, I found in my database search: Isle of Man 1 penny. Another one from Somalia, 5 shillings 1970. This one's "contaminated" with other farm animals, though.
