CDN bid/ask price of July 07 is 265/290. While it's offered for $250.
I notice that for this coin in MS64, the bid/ask price is only 85/95. Any flaw on this coin; ANACS grading, can it possibly cross-over to NGC/PCGS?
I am learning about this serie and the price just bugged me. It's very tempting.... and I just got paid too. Edited by SA4H

From what I can see this is a very nice cent, solid for the grade. It even has quite a bit of red remaining. I've seen coins with less red color graded as RB.
It might well deserve an MS-64 BN grade (or better!) at PCGS or NGC. Those services seem reluctant to cross other service's holders, though, so it may not work. If you send the coin in the ANACS holder, they may claim it doesn't meet their standards for the grade and just return it. They will of course keep your grading fee. You could crack it out and submit it raw, but they might grade it lower than ANACS, or even decide it has some (imaginary) problem and body-bag it. It's a gamble!
The asking price probably reflects the fact that ANACS holders can be harder to sell than PCGS or NGC. It looks like a beautiful coin and if you like it you probably won't regret the purchase. You could even ask the dealer whether he'd let it go for a little less; you never know!

Bruce, I like Harlan Beck. I think his grading is fair and sometimes even too conservative for me. I just bought a 1909-S lincoln from them that they undergraded I think. I have no problem recommending them. As for this 1915-D, you might ask them for a picture of the ANACS holder. I would want to see that as ANACS will slab problen coins, although I see no indication of that here and HJB will almost always note any problems in the description. Let us know if you buy it.

SA4H, it may well be that with the soft economy and Holiday spending that their sales are down and are willing to work on thinner margins than usual. I would like to see better pics, but I agree with Jaobler that it seems to be a good deal. I would not be afraid to pull the trigger if I was interested in it. You could break it out and submit it to NGC or PCGS and if it comes back with the same grade it would probably go for more. Always a gamble, though.

I do not know why it is priced lower but I must say I really like the toning on it, it is a beautiful cent!!

I'm thinking at some point the price was down at $80.....Maybe they noticed their mistake as well?

My question is why the price on HJB is lower than the one on CDN (July issue). If, like Mike said that HJB price is the average market price then that mean the this coin's price went down since July or was it the CDN price was wrong or higher than average market price?
And yes, the price difference btw MS63 and MS64 is 95 vs 290 (almost $200 different)......... make me pondering.

I don't think you would have anything to worry about with HJB not mentioning any problems that was on the holder because he even lists his coins as lightly cleaned and if he uses the word lightly you better have a microscope to be able to see any cleaning lines |

HJB is a very reputable dealer, he will not sell something without describing it in detail. If I was interested I would give him a call and find out first hand.

I just want to add, if you are seriously thinking about buying this thing I wouldn't wait very long, he flips inventory pretty quickly and you posting this thread is only going to help that fact because in my opinion it is a beautiful coin and I don't have any interest in Lincoln cents (as you know alot of our members think differently)
