State Quarter Proof Silver Vs. Cu-Ni

Anybody know if there is a weight difference between a silver proof and a clad proof State Quarter? If so, what would each weigh? (This silved a similar problem I had with a proof Ike recently.)

At the local coin shop today I bought what the guy claimed was an Illinois silver proof. It's a proof, all right, but just now as I took it out of the cardboard 2x2 to put it into a plastic holder, I could see copper on the edge. I need a way to be sure before I go back there.

Jan the silver State Quarters are the same weight as the pre 65 quarters or 6.25 grams .

the Clad quarters weigh 5.67 grams

there should be no copper core showing on the silver State Quarters .

Jan I hate to say it but maybe you need to find a different dealer,, this one seems a bit on the shakey side .
