It does appear to be a Spike head, though I'm not seeing an off-center strike, very mild if so. I don't see any obvious doubling of the ear, so would need closeups of the date to really check. There aren't any 1988 DDR's, I believe. If you're referring to the designer's initials "FG", that spot looks like DDD to me. Too bad it circulated so long! I can't guess on value given the condition. Blakesley Effect is there too, so that confirms it. As far as value goes, not a whole lot, since it has circulated for so long. Probably worth a few dollars at most, given the condition it's in.
