Question On 1989 RDV - Coin Community Forum

wrongalot Pillar of the Community United States 608 Posts	Posted 12/01/2007 10:18 am OK, I read that the 1989 was taken off the list of RDV's because that coin was more of an over abrasion. But my coin does not show any inclenation of a tail, or abrasion. I know the photo's are a little fuzzy, but look close, it shows a clear, straight line in the bottom of the G going up to the - . No left over, no stop, looks just like the G from the 1988. Whats up with this coin? Anyone got ideas? Report this Post to the Staff

300 coin guy Valued Member United States 176 Posts	Posted 12/01/2007 1:29 pm Wrongalot, Here is the abrasion that James is talking about, see how wide the G is on your coin and how it is a little bit of space on the 1988?, well that is what the abrasion is and it is caused by the dye polish to get the effect of the RDV-005 on the 1989. I have many like your coin also 25 of them and they all look like your coin. So that is why it has been delisted from being a RDV-005. When I am saying wide I am talking about the width og the G compared to the HG in the normal 1988, if you look at that you will see what I mean. Hope this helps you. The shapes of the letters were changed by overpolishing the dies and removing portions of the letters. Report this Post to the Staff
