I did learn one valuable lesson at the show, however. Before going, I carefully drew up a list of coins I was looking for, together with the price I was willing to pay and the grade I should be able to find for that price. And each coin I bought from that list I was able to pick up for less than I had budgeted, which was nice. The proof Three-cent Nickel, however, was not something on my list and it was a total spur-of-the-moment thing. And, sure enough, I ended up paying a significant amount more than I probably should have as a result. Sadly, I couldn't get Internet signal at the show in order to look the coin up on my iPhone and instead just relied on the dealer to offer a fair price. Lesson learned!

At least you saved enough on the other items to make it worthwhile. Ultimately, I am one who feels that you did not overpay if you got something that you really wanted.
