Wide AM Collectors, Need Help - Coin Community Forum

Went on ebay to see what other years are out there. There are coins with just the slighest seperation being sold as wide AMs. If this is correct, I've thrown dozens back into the recycle bucket. Is there a minimum space required? One dealer was even questioned and replied that the letters didn't touch making it a Wide AM. Will post pic in varity section later. Report this Post to the Staff

Not touching doesn't make it the wide variety- the separation can be increased slightly due to die polishing/abrading to remove clashes and other die flaws but it will still not look like a Wide AM. The easiest way to compare wide vs. normal is to look at a proof cent from that particular year Report this Post to the Staff

MountainXBGL Valued Member United States 140 Posts	Posted 12/17/2007 11:39 pm I actually found one tonight searching rolls. A real telling factor is the initials at the base of the memorial. If you get a 2001 or later coin to use as a comparison, seeing the difference is pretty easy with a glass. Report this Post to the Staff
