Wow, that is really a clueless dealer that doesn't understand the minting process. Not touching doesn't make it the wide variety- the separation can be increased slightly due to die polishing/abrading to remove clashes and other die flaws but it will still not look like a
Wide AM. The easiest way to compare wide vs. normal is to look at a proof cent from that particular year
