Just click on the date & Obv An Obv 2 will have small crossbars on the E's, a cleft/dimpled chin & throat and Open C's. The Obv 3's will have large crossbar E's and the C's will be almost closed, and the face coarse and lumpy (I call it the "mumps" portrait). The Obv 4 will have a smooth, rounded chin/throat (like and Obv 1 or 1a) with small E crossbars. Edited by okiecoiner 06/01/2015 4:07 pm Report this Post to the Staff

okiecoiner Pillar of the Community Canada 5604 Posts	Posted 06/01/2015 6:49 pm By the way, Penny Guy, less than 20% of all the 1892's were Obv 2's. And less than 20% of the Obv 2's had a re-engraved left foot on the N in Regina. There is a premium on all Obv 2's and a much bigger premium on an Obv 2 with a full foot on the N. A missing/incomplete left foot on the N in regina is a sure sign that it's a 2. The easiest marker for a 3 is the large crossbar on the E's. A small crossbar makes it a 2 or a 4; and a 2 has the dimpled/creased chin/throat. Report this Post to the Staff
