Hi all, I was just taking a look at some pocket change and I came across this Connecticut quarter (P mint). It doesn't appear to be post mint damage to me, but what do I know? At first, I thought the die was "crumbling" around the perimeter, but wouldn't that be raised on the coin instead of incuse? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Misaligned die strike. Very common and not worth a premium.

I respectfully disagree that this is a mis-aligned die. The coin in question is not off-center at all, and the anomoly goes all of the way around the coins perimeter. I agree that mis-aligned dies are very common and carry no premium, I see them all of the time, but this is the first coin that I have seen like this in my 10+ years of collecting.

A few other collectors have suggested that it may be a "collar clash", although that is a new one to me. Still interested in getting some more opinions/insight.

It sure does, nice sharp reeding, red with copper. A nice AU coin, very little wear.

I am no expert but I have been told that this coin is a collar clash. The pattern is the same spacing as the reeding and nice and even.

It appears to be a collar clash as Jorgy pointed out. I just got Alan Herbert's error guide book for Christmas- this is one error that I did not know about until I read that section

Definitely collar clash. I don't believe they carry any premium though? Although this one is nice going all the way around the coin. I have only seen 1/2 to 2/3 clashes before this. Kudos.
