I thought about this for a few days, and ended up choosing Dollars...

And it was tough not choosing quarter, I have more quarters than any
other denomination in my collection.
Shocked, I am! However, your explanation is acceptable.

It really was tough Jbuck. I do like my quarters.
And I am sure they will find their way to top
of my collection .. sometime in the future.

But Morgan's are really in my mind for the past
couple weeks.

Had a older lady come into a local coin shop.
She had a list of all the coins in her collection,
and she was looking to sell. After talking to her
she say she will start bringing her coins in.

She had almost a full set of Morgan's. If the grades
she had listed were accurate, most are in XF to BU.

I only need 6 more Morgan's for a full set, so I
have been moving money around in hopes I picking
up some of this collection.

After that ... could be back to quarters ...

Good luck! That seems like a very good opportunity.

How long have you been collecting Morgans? Did you turn in on when you saw how close you were getting to the end of the line. Are the ones you lack the most rare and expensive?

Not sure if you have me confused with Jbuck.

I have six Morgan's left to complete a full set.
Not counting the 1895, I need
1893 CC, 1893 S, 1894, 1895 S, 1898 S and 1903 O.

I have been buying Morgan's for years, started doing a
full set last April.

Probably.

I can count the Morgan dollars I have on one hand.

As for Eiesenhower Dollars...

I like collecting nickels but Lately I've been thinking about collecting the silver Roosevelt dimes because a full set in circulated condition is less than $100.

A good idea. I like my Roosevelt dime set. Light weight and easy to complete.

stuck on cents/pennies. getting US large cents/small cents, then moved to Canada (including Newfoundland, PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick) and British pennies. Lots in those three countries to keep me busy for a long while.

edit: oh, and I'm working (slowly) on Three Cent pieces--got most of the nickel ones and starting down the silver path.

I would definitely have to vote the dollar as my favorite with a set of date/mint mark business strike dollars from 1878 through 2015, and proof dollars from 1971 through 2015.
Being a Morgan addict, I'd have to vote the Morgan dollar as my favorite among them.

Yes, I got confused over who had the almost full Morgan Set. What condition are most of your Morgans in because quite a few are just not affordable to most mortals in MS condition including that 1893S. However, it is quite an accomplishment to have gotten as far as you have gotten. In MS60 a mere 120,000 for 1893S. No matter what condition you get them in you have quite an investment in time and money and weight. Are you wanting badly to finish your collection? You are a short timer so to speak with the end so near. I have a LSQ collection and I have 5 coins left to collect and all are expensive even if I can find them in just fine condition with a readable date.

Terry

Trying not to take away from this thread.

I do have a dollar date set album that long time
goal is to get AU/BU grades.

The full set will be more circulated mix grades,
with some BU's.

Here is the thread from when I started, I hope I can
do a update thread sometime in the near future.

I have to say I was inspired to do a full set by
another CCF member (Ralph), I think he has three
complete sets.

GR58 - happy to hear you were inspired by my collection of Morgan dollars.....little correction though - when I can afford another 1893S, I'll have completed five sets.....I'm still trying to upgrade my # 1 set - right now I've got it within the grade range of VF through MS (except for the 1893S - G-4) and the upgraded coins wind up trickling down into the succeeding sets - love those Morgan dollars. Of course, we're talking lots and lots of years collecting Morgans to get where I am in my collecting - won't even venture into the expense - but coin collecting is an amazing hobby that has brought me a great deal of pleasure/enjoyment over the years, so the expense is secondary.
