Found My First Error... - Coin Community Forum

mahgobbi Pillar of the Community United States 549 Posts	Posted 01/10/2008 3:35 pm I know this is no big deal because it's a common/worthless error and the coin is in bad shape, but it's the first time I've found something completely on my own and knew exactly what it was (BIE) without having to post here and ask for opinions. I think I'm finally starting to learn something I do have a question about it though. The date is really messed up looking. Is it just post-mint damage? I had three rolls of 1955 coins I decided to take a closer look at today. I found that BIE in the first roll. About an hour later I did a second roll and found another one. arthrene Pillar of the Community United States 1713 Posts	Posted 01/11/2008 06:53 am Brefos - A BIE refers to the die chip in the word Liberty. The die chip is long and "I" shaped so Liberty becomes LibIerty. If I'm not mistaken I believe this was fairly common on the 1955 cents but cool none the less and I still need to get myself one.
