I am wondering if anybody knows what this line is inside of the pillar of this Lincoln Cent. I have others but they didnt scan very well. Actually even this one does not show up that well but it will hopefully be good enough for someone to know what it is.

Here is a closer scan if you need it.

If your talking about the diagonal line in the third opening from the left ,,it looks like a die gouge .

Die gouge = an indented mark left on the die from a tool or something else.

Yes that is what I was talking about. Is it safe to assume that die gouges are fairly common and do not add any value to the coins that have them?

I should have included that info in my first post ,,die gouges add little to no value to the coin in most cases .

This is not a die gouge, it is a die clash left behind when the obverse and reverse dies came together without a planchet between them. The transfer their designs to one another. You're seeing the diagonal back of Lincoln's coat inside the column bays (they are not pillars).

They are common and have no premium value.
