That's an awesome find! especially finding so many of them!

Seems like nickel DDRs are subtle. I search A LOT of nickels and have yet to find a DDR (especially in the '60s where I understand they are more common). I'm wondering if I'm just not looking close enough. Is this example visible "in hand"? Are you checking all of your nickels with a loop/magnification? What's the process you're using on your nickels that is clearly working!

I tend to search several rolls that I saved up for a date.

You should be able to find some in a batch of 60's nickel if they uncirculated much hardier on heavy circulated ones. Just look at brains variety pictures a whole bunch I even blow the pictures up on screen and leave it open while searching.

I first look by eye at the fonts of a bunch maybe 20 coins on a paper plate. Usually the ones with thicker fonts pop out.

I put those aside to search last then I check the least likely thinner ones first. I find it important to search the most likely normal ones first so by the time I get to the thicker ones my eyes can easy spot a abnormal variety coin with ease.

I use a cheap plastic 40x loupe the 10x does nothing for me.

I then double check with usb microscope, take photos of areas from examples on bvc site.

On a few like tdr and 1981 you can in hand but others you need a loupe.

Most important is to learn by example so I look on Brian's variety coin first at one year and mint mark and note all the pop areas. the new section is awesome

On a DDR I tend to look at the M in Unum or am in American easier to tell big thick bottom foots on the fonts I can see them now without loupe.

on the DDO close class 2 are extremely hard to see even with loupe the pop areas vary on DDO so I look it up first.

btw most 1981-d I searched came from rolls made from mint sets or cellos and some variety are proof only

the 2000-P WDDO-001 you can by eye I found one but was in a friends roll.
