It's not a silver nickel. Silver nickels were made from half of 1942 to 1945.

The silver wartime nickels can be identified by the large mint mark on the reverse just below E PLURIBUS UNIM as shown here.

Yes, I have a War Nickel. Was just told they were all mostly silver from 64 and back.

the wartime silver nickel are/were the only nickels made from silver, and then only 35% silver

All dimes, quarters, and halves pre-1964 are 90% silver. 1942-1945 are 35% with the exception of some 1942 P's and all 1942 D's

1965-1970 JFK's are 40%
