Hi all, My first post! I'm a newbie who likes decimal coins, especially the incused millennium! My introduction to collecting decimals came as a bit of an accident. I was searching the net for the words to the original decimal currency song sung to the words of "Click Go the Shears" when I discovered that 1983 and 1984 20c coins were somewhat of a rarity. I decided to search the net to procure some of these rarities and after a bit of research I found myself here amongst you lot. Its now about six months later. I've learned a lot from you all. I would even call myself a semi-professional noodler now. So,its probably time that I started participating in the discussions with you all, if thats OK. As for the millennium post; well I have to agree with B_J_W_79 this is a severely underated coin. Its a tough one to find! A true collectors coin; Not available in any mint set, more a mule than a variation and tough to find in any decent condition. It should be a good one to hold onto.

Interesting that since we have started this topic the price of these coins has risen dramatically and the bidding has gotten fiercer. Maybe we should stop discussing desirable coins

Hi Proko & welcome to the forum. Lots of Aussies here & plenty info to help you find out what you need to know. If you can't find it, just ask & you're sure to get several responses.

Proko welcome to the forum. I'm glad someone agrees with my in regard to the incused flags being greatly underated. I agree completely with your reasoning. I have notice they have gone up in price slightly however I personally think any under $20 are great value. If I had the money they would be all mine . The price of large head 2004 20c pieces are also very low in my opinion!

UNC? I would say its probably virtually impossible! None were ever in UNC Sets, all were released into regular circulation... You maybe able to find examples in aUNC, but they tend to average about $20 on ebay ATM for average kinda examples (VF-gVF-ish)...

I don't have a Macca's. Can anyone help with the book price on each condition of an incused? I currently have an ebay seller searching for an UNC incused for me. He says because of their rarity I will have to pay full catalogue value for it if he finds one. It would be interesting to know how much I should expect to pay.

Thanks Richard. I appreciate it! Sound expensive at first but from my experience so far these coins are very difficult to find in circulation so to acquire an UNC one for $160-$200 may not be such a bad deal after all, considering none were available in mint sets.

Well I gave in and bought an average circulated incuse 50c from ebay. Was a $25 BIN but the postage was cheap so I think I did pretty well.

Nice piccies Learjet. I've only ever found one incused in circulation after noodling approximately $200 - $300 worth of 50c each week for the past six months or so. I've purchased another six on ebay since and have been rather fortunate with their condition all being around the EF mark. Quite lucky really, when you consider that some of the purchases have been from sellers who don't supply pictures of the actual coin that they are offering, but rather a generic photo of an incused. Mind you, I recently bought two coins offered by the one seller, in separate ads, with the seller quoting that I would be buying the incused coin pictured in the ad. Same picture in both ads! When they arrived neither were the pictured coin. They were the standard Millenium, not the incused variety. The seller has promised a refund but I notice that the seller has the same ad up again, using the same picture. Let the buyer beware!
