I am wondering how many pennies are out there that are upset to 6 o'clock. The reason I ask is that I have come across one after 40 years of collecting. I assume they are extremely rare and much rarer than a 1930 penny. Any info would be appreciated.

I've owned one or two altogether in many years of collection.

I have a few.

1962 rotated to 6 & 11 o'clock
1962 (y.) rotated to 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 o'clock
1952 rotated to 1 & 9 o'clock
1950 rotated to 4 & 11 o'clock
1950 (y.) rotated to 9 & 11 o'clock
1947 (y.) rotated to 2 o'clock

plus a number that are smaller rotations.

so they are out there to be found

Thanks SPG. I have or have had all the other rotations but the 6 o'clock has always eluded me. I think it is the most extreme. So is there any increase in 5 in existence?

I've never seen more than a minor upset but there would have to be a few at least - predecimal upsets seem to have occurred more often.
I personally don't check for upsets when looking at old pennies and I'm sure there are plenty of others who just look at the date.
