The coin is large, crown size.
Can someone identify this even in that condition?

I would guess a 40 para from Turkey, K670 (AH 1255). Check the weight. The 20 para was 14-16 grams; presumably the 40 para would be twice that before wear and corrosion.

It is hard to be hundred percent sure about the denomination of the coin you have here. Unless I can tell it's what we call "mecidiye". Mecidiye is a term being used for bronze coins minted during rule of abdulmecid. And the date of the coin is 1859. (Abdulmejid period starts at 1839 and in the tu#287;ra side of the coin it is clear that the coin is minted in 20 th reign year of the sultan)
