Does anyone go to retail/grocery stores and ask for coin rolls there?
I like to go around to a few stores and ask for, "$5 roll of dimes in change", for example.
Sometimes it works right at the register when they open it up, I'll look to see what they have and ask and other times I have to go to their customer service desk and it's hit and miss depending who is working.....
Just find some of the banks don't like to give out their rolls anymore....

I've never had a problem getting rolls at banks.

Thus, I've never felt the need to ask for them elsewhere.

Have bought some from the stores in the past, when banks were closed and I was desperate for a fix.
I think they are reluctant to give out rolls today because most folks have gone cashless, and coin is short.

In my experience, most stores are reluctant to hand out rolls as they need them for issuing change.

I used to work at a grocery store. I still know people who work there. I can go and turn in searched rolls and get new rolls as a replacement. I would not advise you to try this unless you have a preexisting relationship with the person who works the counting room.

I don't get rolls from stores often, they usually don't carry enough to provide more than one or two anyway. I do however ask for any foreign or weird coins regularly. This gets me halves, Golden Dollars, the occasional SBA and Ike as well as various Euro and Canadian coins.

Weirdly, since I live less than 100 miles from Mexico now, I have not seen a Mexican coin in any of my various sources like CoinStar trays, or from the stores. The area I live in has thousands of Canadian "Snow Birds" who live here in the winter, so there is a great influx of Canadian coins in the fall as well as an uptick in Euro coins popping up here and there.
