For which there is no proof it's a cheerios variety. It brought $500, which is about 499 too much if its not a sackie, and about 3000 too little in the unlikely eventy that it actually is a cheerios variety. He included a "certificate of authenticity" which says nothing about what variety the dollar may be, and he lists it as "gold plated clad"[:0]Of course, since it was a private auction there is no way to alert anyone. Suggestions?

Actually, there's a roundabout way of tracking down the buyer, at least once s/he has posted feedback: through the Singapore ebay site which lists auction numbers in feedback. It seems to me that Singapore also listed the buyers after an auction closed, but it's still private, so either this policy has changed or my memory is faulty (your choice). I also note that Singapore ebay no longer has an advanced search feature. Here's the Cheerios Sac listing through Singapore:

Thanks MF!
No FB yet. ED seems to make money by selling crud, for which he refunds when requested-keeping his FB rating high. I "loved" the group of "coins"
http://www.ebay.com.sg/viItem?ItemId=8348160028 where the "coin" in the 2x2 isn't even visible, but "1700s" and "copper" are. What was this buyer thinking?

He's new to ebay. The man on the Bridgepot half is proven right time and time again...

Estatedoctor, as a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the pjd 1966 School of Graduate Studies in Fraud knows what he's doing when he takes advantage of buyers' naivete, ignorance, greed, and gullibility. But at some point, buyers have to be responsible for their own behavior. Like you, I wonder just what the buyer was thinking... or if he was thinking at all.

Good spot, Don. Took some scrolling in Singapore. I checked estatedoctor's current listings, but he hasn't relisted the "Cheerios" Sac yet.

I have no doubt it will show up again somewhere. Hopefully, he won't try to sell it as a Cheerios issue again, but who knows?

The Cheerios Sacagawea dollar is a rare pattern coin.

Because estatedoctor is not the same person as pamiam003. It is very possible that they are working together, but estatedoctor is a professor at the university. We did some background checking on him a while ago. He is definitely not the same person.

Hi Susan.
For the record, because this man smears the good name of academicians, while he has had several titles at Savannah State (acting athletic director, assistant vice president for student affairs), to my knowledge this man does NOT hold an appointment in any academic series at SSU and is not entitled to the title "professor". I realize to an outsider this may be like nitpicking, but imagine explaining the difference between a genuine double eagle and a token reproduction to someone who knows nothing of coins and you'll get the general idea. His degree is an EdD from an online "university", not a PhD from a traditional institution.

Degrees or no, he's certainly savvy enough to know the difference between a garden variety sac dollar and a cheerios, or a genuine hammered coin vs a reproduction.

in 2000 cheerios put in their boxed the 200 Lincoln Cent and in some boxes they put the sac dollars along with the Lincoln Cent (of course the sac is much more rare than the Lincoln Cent). It has been found that the "Cheerios" sac's have special characteristics in the eagles feathers and other places which makes it unique (which only adds to the numismatic value) and have become very desirable to collectors
