VF-25/30. I agree that the toning looks a little funky.

Put me down for VF25 and no opinion on the surfaces.

The sharpness grade is VF-25, but the toning has reached the point where it is now what can be called damage. I'd net grade this one to Fine-12 with perhaps a market value of a VG because of poor eye appeal. Coins like this are not easy to sell unless they are "bargain priced."

It filled a hole....once I get a nicer example I'll attempt to sell it. Still need a 1849-1857 Half Cent, Seated Liberty dollars and a Trade dollar to complete the type set.

Try not to fill the same holes too many times - it gets very expensive.

Among your "last coins" here are some observations:

1849-57 Half Cent - Don't buy anything below EF. In fact EF is a low grade for this type. 1851 and 1853 are the common dates.

Seated dollar - Many have been worked on, and the Chinese have made many counterfeits. Certification is strongly recommended.

Trade dollar - DO NOT buy a raw, uncertified piece. There are many counterfeits. Don't even think about buying a raw coin, even if you must crack it out of the slab.

Looks VF-25 to me. Did you try acetone to get some of that black off?
