Found in circulation.... wood grain toning on the observe and lamination on the reverse  Thought was a nice find , 2 errors at the same coin and wanted to share !   Edited by Paola1

Looks like paper on the 'N'. Probably glued to the coin.

Yes looks like and was the first thing I thought too, it's metal lamination , sharpy when you touch .

Also, the wood grain appearance is not toning. These discolored lines occur when the alloys are improperly mixed. So it is an error, not toning.

But it can't be a lamination. It is above the coin on the top of the device. It must something like metal added to the coin. A lamination would be attached to the coin and be the same shape as top of the device.

You can give it an acetone rinse. If it is glue (or glued), that may release it.

Looks to me like the N took a hit, the toning doesn't match the rest of the coin. Displaced metal PMD. |

Ok , sorry guys , was at work , after a overnight acetone bath the "thing " is there still, very strange , I'm able to lift the metal and the N is there intact  Then I try and remove it and it's impossible by hand , maybe if I cut it off but I don't want to damage the coin... So I think the possibility of being a hit does not apply ... Also ...why someone would add this piece of metal , I don't know , I tried and take picture from different angles to try and help the members guess what is that lol Ps .: the second picture shows the N under the metal Thank you very much !      |
