I normally dont dumpster dive but that day there was a bow with a Seth Thomas Maritime Edition dual chime clock aswell as a Louis Vuitton notebook bag plus a Zeiss Ikon pop out camera.....

I grabbed the box and tossed it in my trunk...

Found the medallion inside the Louis Vitton bag in a white satiny box that was kind of embossed on top which I gave to some girl I know cause she thought it was a very cool box.

The local clock guy gave me $600.00 for the clock and I got $350 for the LV bag on ebay....

Any info about the medallion would be cool...

It's a catholic devotion medal, the so-called 'Medallion of St. Benedict'. The design of the cross was chosen in 1742 by Pope Benedict XIV itself and has not changed.

The legend reads as follow:

C.S.P.B. = Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti (The Cross of Holy Father Benedict)
C.S.S.M.L. = Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux (Holy Cross be my Light)
N.D.S.M.D. = Non Drago Sit Mihi Dux (Don't let the Devil be my guide)
V.R.S. = Vade Retro, Satana!
N.S.M.V. = Numquam Suade Mihi Vana (Don't guide me to vanity)
S.M.Q.L. = Sunt Mala Quae Libas (Your Drinks are Poisoned)
I.V.B. = Ipse Venena Bibas (Drink 'em yourself)

Magnificent find from a dumpster!
Do a Google Inages search on it; it may very well lead to some sort of valuation.

Report back.

I steer clear of Dumpsters due to the near universal stench.

Garbage night on my street, however, I always take a peek when I walk by, and sometimes pick up something.

Thanks...Lucky for me the dumpster didnt stink as it was on the property of the storage facility I rent to keep my cars n motorcycles so the stinkiest it sees is mostly broken household items...It was right on top too..........

Upon further research as per info given it seems this is also called a Last Rights Medallion and its from 1890 I beleive......

Ill keep everyone posted unless an expert can help me out beforehand....?
