I was looking at Gold Buffalo coins and saw this one and it is in Proof packaging but it looks like the bullion version to me (can't even see the W mint mark). I emailed the seller and I don't think he is trying to deceive anyone because he asked me if he should change the auction title but I told him not to do that just yet but to look at the coin in hand and see if it had the W Mint mark before he did anything. The thing that struck me weird is he said he got it this way straight from the mint. Here is his reply

Thanks, I will check
I purchased it from the United States Mint.
Everything in the pictures is what came with it.Should I change the
listing.
Thanks for the info
Tom

So I figured I would see what all of you thought about this coin, when I blow up the picture my eyes seem to play tricks on me and I think I may see the W but still the finish looks like a bullion coin instead of the proof version so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated before I give him wrong advice on my opinion alone

That is absolutely not a proof Buffalo. I had to pull mine out and do a side by side to be certain but it was obvious then. No W under the feather and the fields are not contrasted with the device. I believe he is pulling a fast one based solely on the fact that he sells only coins and definitely knows the difference between a proof and a business strike. Yes, he should change his listing AND his story I hope this helps clear up any doubt.

There's no way that's a proof coin. I even looked at a bunch elsewhere just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I'm wondering if the seller just has the wrong pictures posted or mixed up....
