That's a nice one to find collector67. Look for a forked end of the stem of leaf 9 where it joins the leaf. That should confirm it.

Don, I'm thinking it is 54a1 (54a+J13b). I think I can see the die cracks at leaves 10 and 11. On the obverse, the top of the C of CANADA looks like it has the triple punching like the 54a. Planchet flaws make that one a difficult attributon.

Here's a few more that are in the Dp9 1-5 listing in Charlton book and I know some of you consider them to be common coins to find.
These first three I found hard to find in any decent condition.
The Dp9 #1 I agree are common but in a high grade are costly as Devec has mentioned.

I find a lot of collectors get the Dp9 #4 mixed up with others so the keys to look for is the 5 and where the die crack on leaf 7 is located

Here is an interesting flaw...my fiber or wood addition to the RP 9's here..

PC59-481..dies 48 + J7

The 8 and 5 and the 9 and the "O" are repunched in this fractured example..and the rim crack runs far around the edge.

I wonder if the loop of that 9 has a piece stuck in it..?

..and..

I wonder how much more fiber is tucked inside that cent..?

Concerning the 20a2, I have two die states in my collection
Obv 5 / Rx 2 XF 40
Obv 5 / Rx 3 VF 20

I have two other duplicates.

doug

Thought I would show my 20a2 as it would slot in the middle VF30

Nice addition...

I think that some graders would place it at 40....
..There's still a lot of nice detail in front of her ear..

Devlec, that is odd what ever that is in that coin and it looks well circulated VF and it is still there nice find

Question was it laminated over that area and maybe broke off through its time in circulation?
