Her story is indeed fascinating. Here's mine, I've had this coin for about three years now. She sits proudly with my other Roman silver coins but is quite the drop off from others shown in this topic. Fantastic coins everyone.

We will be doing threads on each of those other women. Maybe save it for then? This thread is for Domna - not to be TOO picky about it.

Here's my humble offering...... Julia Domna. Augusta, AD 193-217. AR Denarius (3,84g). Rome mint. Struck under Septimius Severus, circa AD 200-207. Draped bust right / Pietas standing left, holding acerrum (incence box) and dropping incense onto lighted and garlanded altar to left. RIC IV 572 (Septimius); RSC 150. I bought her to go with her husband and my last post of Septimius Severus. I really like the portrait as I think it shows just how beautiful she really was. Saludos Paul

I wanted to wait until I had a nicer coin to offer for this thread... AR Denarius 211-217 (Struck under Caracalla) IVLIA PIA FELIX AVG DIANA LVCIFERA, Diana standing with long torch Since Julia enjoyed unprecedented power and influence for being a Roman woman, I thought that her "Mean Mug" portrait from her later rule was fitting.

I'm on the road, so this will be brief.
Great portrait on that one, Paul, she looks like a young mother content with her role of helping her family keep their position. That reverse is also appropo emphasizing that the service of the gods was in the purview of women to promote within the family (note the AVGG). Very nice coin.
Steve, your coin provides a good thematic counterpoint and in great style too. What expression should be on a mother's face when her husband is dead and her eldest son has done in the younger? Life by the light of the moon, in the hands of the huntress. What I particularly like about the reverse on your coin is that the artist/celator has depicted the torch with flames you can see.
Nice selections, both.
