Knowing nothing at all about these coins, I found the thread fascinating. You have some lovely coins, Paul, and the photographs and write-ups are most interesting. A lot of work has been done in bringing it all together, and highlighting the details and giving the explanations of the legends makes the thread a very polished reference.

It has taken me while to work my way through, but I have learned a lot. Thank you for the time and effort.

Jim

Thanks Jim, the feedback is much appreciated and I'm really glad you enjoyed the thread.

When I look back at my initial posts I realise just how much I've learnt about this series over the last 4 years.....Still a big passion/obsession of mine

Thought I'd share a recent addition to my Hindu Kashmir collection.....For me an 'interesting piece'!...
The coin is of Sussala Deva....There are two legend variations referenced, one with 'Sri' the other without, of which I owned both types before this recent acquisition so why did I buy it?...
Well the diagram below shows the two types with breakdown of legend...Note also the trident is held in the left hand..
Ancient-Kashmir-Coinage

This new purchase shows the 'Sri' type but as you can see the trident is now being held in the right hand?...
This got me searching and the 4 main reference books show this.....
Cunningham..Only one example 'Plate coin#26' (although he does recognise the 2 types).....Legend without Sri, trident is held in 'Left hand'.
Rodgers....Only example #16, Legend without Sri, trident held in 'Left hand'.
Mitchiner...Only one example Plate coin#190, Legend with Sri, trident held in 'left hand'.
West....2 examples..
First legend without Sri, trident held in 'Left hand'.
Second legend with Sri, trident in 'RIGHT hand'.
Eureka!!...Found one....This then pushed me into searching for this variation---They exist but they are a lot scarcer than the left hand trident...
As a bonus the new purchase is Ex-William Spengler..I'm very pleased to add this coin to my collection...Paul

Congratulations on the new rare addition to the collection, Paul. Thanks for the extremely informative write-up too. A most enjoyable read, especially with the detailed illustrations.

@strange - you'll have better luck getting responses if you start a new topic for the questions on your coins instead of just replying to an existing topic.

....Sorry but I don't recognize the coins....Do you think they are from Kashmir?...If you start a new ID thread I'm sure, looking at the detail left on the coins, someone will know exactly what they are...Good luck.

Good provenance, attractive (and, I assume, rock hard) green patina, sharp devices with minimal wear, clear type on flan, rare type. What's not to like? Well done, Paul.

Thanks Bob....Yes no BD the green patina is solid but I did check this with Pankaj before I bought.
Been searching but can't seem to find anything about Jess Yocker apart from Stephen Album links? Any ideas?

Like you, Paul, I'm only seeing references to Yockers in relation to the Album sales and catalogs. Unfortunately, the pdf for Album's Auction 41 (Sept. 2021), which is available on his site, has bios of two other individuals whose collections were featured in the auction but - it seems - not of Yockers.

I suppose you could reach out to Stephen if you're so inclined. He might not have more to offer beyond the person being a private collector who consigned coins with him. But who knows?

B.

Another interesting coin and write-up Paul. It's good to see that you are managing to find these rarities for your collection. Very attractive colouration, and as Bob said, good provenance too.
