Beware Of The 'Ebay Tilt'......... - Coin Community Forum

doubleeagle59 Pillar of the Community Canada 2495 Posts	Posted 02/15/2017 4:19 pm While searching ebay for that elusive high grade coin, many times I have had to think twice about clicking the BIN feature, due to the misleading ' ebay tilt' pictures. Coins look so much better than they actually are. Stay away from those bright shiny pictured coins. Even though the example I'm showing is a US coin, its effect is the same regardless which country it's from. Here's the ebay tilt and the result is what looks like an extremely high grade coin...... Here's the exact same coin in a different light...... Big difference. First picture looks like an ms64 or ms65 grade. Second picture drops all the way to a cleaned 'details' coin. More importantly, the little circle around the stars normally means the big area is worn out expect the small area near the stars. If it's really MS, there should be "wheel luster" across the whole coin. Report this Post to the Staff

trout1105 Pillar of the Community Australia 7096 Posts	Posted 02/16/2017 05:22 am I am always weary of images of coins taken at an angle instead of directly above the coin. 99.999% of the time the angled images are done to enhance a coins appearance.
