1951 Cent On Wrong Planchette? - Coin Community Forum

flanders8008 Valued Member Canada 219 Posts	Posted 04/19/2017 2:12 pm Firstly sorry for the low-grade photos and my lack of digital scale... I have this 1951 cent that's a shade smaller in diameter than other cents and it's about half as thick. I'm thinking it is on the wrong planchette or something. It's not magnetic btw. Anybody seen something like this before? worth sending off to be graded maybe? Report this Post to the Staff

robmck1967 Pillar of the Community Canada 870 Posts	Posted 04/19/2017 4:56 pm There are a lot of science experiment coins out there. This has the classic signs of an acid penny. Smaller diameter, thinner, mushy appearance of the devices. I don't believe that RCM made any foreign coins in 1951 so that would rule out a foreign planchet. Of course I am no expert.
