After I got home I went and checked the weight on the all quarters and they are all 80% silver.
Everything was between 5.66g - 6.06g and total was 233.46!

Very happy to find these for a GREAT price, as I never see anything good around my area.. except maybe a RCM proof set or two one every couple months. LOL

Some are in good to fair condition 7 got a couple nice ones!

Also Yesterday I went threw a bucket of pennies that have been sitting around since 2012 or so. and found some nice error coins.. like 1976 rotated die (queen is rotated to 10 O'Clock), 1953 & 63 Hanging 3's, Plus a 1964 Missing MG.. and a couple other double die 979 & 79 from the 1979 penny.

Tom, great pick up, however weight alone does not guarantee these are 80%, and if you tried to sell these nobody would pay 80% prices. there are only 2 ways to verify the silver content, either an xrf, or by using the specific gravity test.

regardless of the outcome, the best you will get is 65%

Hmm so the the 50% silver ones can weight 5.83 also? I am still quiet new to knowing all the tid bits of info. I check RCM site and say 1967 50% should weigh 5.05g & 80% is 5.83..

Maybe that's mis-info, as some of there other stuff isn't 100%. But let me know and gravity test? will check on Youtube and see if I know what you mean. Cheers!

Got it for under 50% silver prices, so was a great deal either way!

Tom: Standard operating for '67 material is that since the quarters could be 50% or 80% they just split the difference and pay around 65% and put all the quarters in one big bucket to be sent off.

With respect to the specific gravity test you can use it to determine what material a coin is made out of..... it's very helpful when you have coins that may have been lined with gold or silver but have another metal inside that has a very similar mass like tungsten.

You could use it to determine the difference between 50% and 80% quarters but you're still going to get paid the same.. so unless you're melting it down yourself for a different project it may just be wasted time.

Just as an FYI. No dealer and/or smelter will take these coins at 80% silver content. Most will do a blended rate and some only at 50%. Dealer premium is usually at around 82% of the price of spot on the buy side. Still a good find.

Yeah I knew most times you will sell for centennials they will sell for less than the years with 80%. I just was curious why the RCM page says 5.05 for 50% & 5.83 for 80% are those not correct?

Anyways thanks everyone, was a great deal either way and probably will end up holding them for awhile.

Atleast I found one die chip error (no foot near 7)& Rotated die error with maybe 2 others, but hard to say.

Will also keep the nice ones for my collection!
