Beautiful stocks, Greg! The ALCOA one brings back memories of living near Alcoa, TN for a few years. Molten aluminum was (and probably still is) hauled along highways from the smelting plant to the main mill in giant crucibles on a flatbed truck. There was an intersection where they had to take a 90 degree turn, and there was roadside evidence that occasionally some sloshed out of the crucible.

A new one arrived today for the Fred Rueping Leather Co. This one is interesting for the attached stub and also the company itself. Rueping was a well-established tannery in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, which celebrated its centennial in 1954, about the this specimen was produced. The vignette is intriguing, too. Unfortunately, one legacy of the company when it finally dissolved was a Superfund site.

Here is a neat specimen that I like for a lot of reasons. The company name is interesting and I'll have to do a little research to find out about it. The certificate is for 25 shares, which is an odd amount that you only find printed this way in Canada. Lastly, and the real reason I bought it, it was printed by British American Bank Note Co. in Ottawa. This is an exceeding difficult firm to find specimens from. Apparently they just never released them or they were destroyed. But here's one from the 1930s and I'm very happy to be able to add it to my collection.

Excellent specimen and very attractive, GregAlex! Interesting history, great color, intricate "spirograph" border, fantastic vignette - it's a real winner!

At long last, I was able to obtain a specimen printed by Jeffries Banknote Co. This was a smaller security printer based in Los Angeles, which tended to print West Coast products. One of their most famous projects was printing all the engraved admission tickets for the 1932 Olympic Games. They were around from 1894 until 1989, when they were bought by U.S. Banknote Corp. By then the quality of their engraving was lagging. This stock was probably done in the 1940s.

I haven't had much luck in finding specimens at reasonable prices, but managed to pick up this one recently. Duquesne Light Company has a surprising number of specimens on the market, but this is the first type I've seen with this vignette. Printed by Republic Bank Note Co., a small securities printer that was based in Pittsburgh.

Very nice, Junius! I have another Duquesne specimen to add to the mix -- this one is more modern.

Here's a recent addition for this topic. I thought about including it in the Oil & Gas thread, but it fits in the specimen category. Printed by Hamilton Bank Note Co., if you can't read the punched lettering.
