Isn't the "D" a little too high? If it was silver soldered on and the aged, acetone wouldn't have removed the MM.

Looks a lot like one I had a long time ago. NGC slabbed AG-03 but the mint mark looks
a lot like I remember on the one I had. I vote for sending it in to get it authenticated.

I took it to my coin dealer, who is a PCGS and ANACS submission center. He said he is almost sure it is genuine and will likely grade F Details. I went ahead and sent it off to ANACS for $10. I will get it back in a week or 2. If it is real, my customer will be thrilled!

AG3 is around $400 retail, so I think F-detail should be around $250 range, still a good pick up from circulation.

Amazing how you folk value modern culls so highly.
Everything post 1783 is modern.
Actually to pull a coin worth a few £ out of circulation is pretty cool.

Looks good to me. My dirtfishing pal dug a 1916 D in our hometown a couple years ago.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

I just got the result back! It is in fact genuine! It was graded G 06 Details, Rim Filed! I sent my friend to go pick it up, I will post a pic soon! What shall I offer my friend for this coin?
