Not sure about the knee but it is definitely a doubled column.

Nice DDR!

Do you think it is one of the ones listed on Wexler? I looked, but could not fully identify.

It might be WDDR-003. The height of the extra column looks right, but I can't really tell if the width is right because of the shadow.

Can you match the die markers?

Looks a bit like this one

Quote:
1996-D 1¢ WDDR-003

Description: Doubling shows on the left side of the seventh Memorial column to the right of the statue's upper legs.

Die Markers: Obverse: A short die gouge extends NE from the upper right of the mint mark. Reverse: Three small die gouges can be found SE of the bottom of the second A in AMERICA.

But just doesn't look as strong as that one? Check to see if the marker matches?

Thanks! I tried to match up markers, but they do not look right to me, maybe from weaker strike as @coop mentioned. Can you see anything that matches? Thanks for your help!

I don't see any of the gouges in your images. You might have a new DDR.

That's good right? Wasn't there a site that has a list of submissions for possible new varieties? I think it is just text references w/ links in single left aligned fashion? I would like to see if there are any others pending verification. Also, when looking at the date and MM, does anyone notice any possible errors (varieties) before I continue on with Wexler submission?

This is not an error coin. John Doesn't list error coins. He lists Die Varieties. Your coin is a Die Variety, not an error coin. (two different camps)

What is the difference?
A die variety was created that way. RPM: mint mark or mint mark, Doubled die: Doubling on the die.
An error coin: These are usually one time errors, but can happen a few times. Wrong stock, incorrect strike by misalignment, double struck, the list goes on and on.
Die event: A die aging, die cracks, Chips, breaks, Die Deterioration.........
Coin event: Coin was damaged in circulation or coins altered to make them look like a collectable.

Doubled dies ( DDO or DDR) are die varieties.

I believe this might is the page you're looking for:

http://www.doubleddie.com/402401.html

It describes how you can submit new varieties to Wexler to be confirmed and posted to the website.

There isn't a site for "pending" or unconfirmed varieties. They are only published to these sites once they've been confirmed by an expert.

Thanks Tanman! I've been on that page before and will follow the directions there. This is what I had stumbled upon originally which I thought was pending submissions. It shows CONECA data. I see that what I saw as stating "unconfirmed" was mainly just die marker stage data. Totally not what I thought I had seen before. Thanks for helping me out guys!
