OH MY GOSH!!!! As most of the people on here can agree, there are your good and BAD points to ebay. "MOST" of the Power Sellers and other sellers are GENERALLY honest people trying to make a buck or two...but not over $100,000.00 in a couple weeks time off this many people. If you were one of the victims, you can contact the FBI's internet fruad division. Go to https://www.fbi.gov. They have a link there that can redirect you to (please, don't quote me on the abbreviations) IC3 division in Virginia. That is sad that someone would take advantage of people like that!!!! I hope they land many Christmas days to come in a nice, cold, lonely, steel cell!

I think a few of these folks need to take a little drive, if they can find out exactly who this jerk is, and offer up a little pay back? One way or another satisfaction would come!

It's funny the buyers didn't check the feedback before bidding.

If you'll notice, out of 109 negative feedbacks in the last year, 106 came in the last month. I always wonder what happens to this kind of ebayer, like something snaps suddenly...Only indication of coming trouble were a few venomous negative feedback replies by this seller. Other than that, relatively good feedback. That's one criterion I use to evaluate a seller (or buyer), how do they respond to negative feedback, with venom, or a genuine attempt to make things right. I don't think the buyers had the opportunity to check neg feedbacks before bidding, seller ripped everybody off suddenly all at once. oops, had to correct spelling errors, or wouldn't be able to sleep tonight!

During my 3 years as moderator of a buy/sell forum, I faced a few situations where a previously-reliable trader suddenly went rogue. My working hypothesis was generally the development of a drug habit, or something similar.

Similar sort of a scam happen here in OZ about two years ago...it involved electronics as well....was a very well discussed subject on ebay chatrooms. That particular seller was selling hundreds of high tech equipment each week and in a short space of time ran off with thousands before the first negatives started coming in. ebay was notified by buyers but did not do anything/could not do anything...eBay claimed they were bound by a "legal" gag taken out by the seller at subsequent Court hearings. In the meantime more buyers were being fleece. A "vigilante" type group was formed by disgruntled buyers and this group "bombed" every auction of this seller to prevent other unsucspecting buyers. A lot of good members were NARUed as a result of the auction bombing. Another small group lodged legal complaints to the Federal Police and it was through this avenue that this seller was brought to heel. I learnt a lot following this particular saga...the main one of which is not to rely too much on feedbacks....this seller has heaps of positive feedbacks without a negative before she went berserk. The second lesson is I will not buy big ticket items through ebay, but from established dealers with a brick and mortar shop and with whom I have had dealings many times before.

Yeah, looks like this guy/gal just blew up and decided to rip off everyone; the prisons are filled with people like this. Adobero has the right advice: check a seller's feedback before bidding. The response a seller gives to negative or neutral feedback is often indicative of the type person s/he is. Unless this seller can make restitution, s/he will be modeling the latest in orange jumpsuits.

I agree, the earlier feedback would not have been sufficent to merit avoiding the seller. The Ipod was a very hot item and she was not giving them away! It's as if the seller decided to make a big score and then disappear. I hope they nail this person very soon. Mike

Forgot to add that the saga also exposed a flaw in ebay's feedback system. If you are a buyer, you will be NARUed irrespective of many positives you have if you received three NPB strikes...however if you are a seller you will only be NARUed when you go down to minus 3 by NPS strikes in your overall feedbacks. As this particular seller had heaps of positive feedbacks and as long as she is paying her listing as well as FVF , ebay did nothing.

....sorry, but don't feel bad for any of them. There was clearly a pattern that they should have seen. In Law Enforcement, we call that " A clue".

Jayson, at what point did you see a pattern in the feedback? Most were compressed into a two to three week period right before Christmas. It looked to me like most people got stiffed in that time frame. I think it was to late for most folks by then. Mike

Mike, believe me, I did some looking before I made my post. However, I didn't have to look far. 107 Negative feedbacks within the last 6 months (taking into consideration those before christmas, was enough of a pattern for me.
