LilBlue New Member United States 43 Posts	Posted 07/20/2008 2:25 pm Hi you all. I just went thru about 40 1993 LMC and these 2 stuck out like a sore thumb. They're not outlined on coppercoins.com, so what am I really seeing? One appears to me to be a doubled tie and the other mostly a doubled date (but I really feel that one is Machine Doubling.) coindexter Pillar of the Community United States 869 Posts	Posted 07/20/2008 3:08 pm I have noticed that on a lot of 1983s also. I thank it comes from the copper plating or a heavy die stamping. It makes it look doubled. For a real double you will see a step or channel on the letters or date. And a larger pic helps. I use a scanner to decide if its a double. They are not die varieties, which is why you will not find them on my site. They are also not errors because this is just a normal part of the wtriking process. Sometimes the coins just come out with this thin, shallow depression on the outside of the letters that make them look somewhat doubled. Report this Post to the Staff
