Thanks to Charles, Bill and a bunch of help from others here on the forum that's how much change I've saved over the years thinking I had something worthwhile. Turns out to be Machine Doubling, die wear, damage, chicken scratches and whatever. On the bright side though, I've now have a little extra room in the safe.

Great Move!

I should be doing the same thing- probably got more "STUFF" at face value that I care to think about- might just as well cash it in and make room for more "STUFF!" AT face-value- at the rate I'm going. (LOL)

I save a few examples of mine, not that they will be worth anything. But for taking images for educational purposes for descriptions of coins from new ones. I sort my various types into tubes and when the right question comes up, I can find an example of possible description to show an image. Done this several times.

I've got tons of 2%-5% OC Lincolns and Rooseys that I know will never be worth anything. Gave some to my nephew and a friend of mine to hopefully spark their interest.

A vast majority of what is found in change is just that - pocket change. If you find unusual coins that have character and you ask about them here, best to keep those coins marked as educational pieces for later reference, but the remainder are just fodder that get in the way of collecting the truly scarce, truly valuable coins...best to do with them exactly what you did. Turn them in and make room for better stuff.
