Hello everyone.

I am chasing a Foy & Gibson bag that was issued with the 1935 Centenary Florin. I know they are rare, but any info on obtaining one (other than ebay) would be appreciated.

Cheers Simon

You could try the member Eric. I am pretty sure he collects them.

I have yet to see a Foy's bag without a frayed fold across the middle.

yes, it's not the perfect example, but still not bad for almost 80 years old. The one from your link is the "Perth" bag that I am looking for.....

Hi, here is a pic of my "ORIGINAL" Perth Foy's bag, Yeah it's a bit tattie but at least it's real.
moneymaker, how long do you think it will be before some idiot buys one of them off you ( or anyone else that is selling them ) & then tries to on sell as the real deal.
IMO they would make good fire starters.

Not sure why the bag shows a lighter colour on the bottom half as it's consistently coloured like the top half, must be my photography.

A Professionally made REPRO Wesley.

There is one thing I would like to know, WHO is the professional that is making these ? They have nothing to distinguish them as repro's so would'nt they infact be counterfeit ?

I suspect that making them isn't illegal simply because Foy and Gibson are no longer around to dispute their copyright ownership. Selling them as real on the other hand, is highly illegal and blatant deception. If the manufacturer of them was being entirely honest with themselves they'd have the back stamped 'copy' or similar. I forsee nothing but trouble with these things being available now.

I'd agree with forum. I personally can't see point of buying something someone whipped up and printed out from their computer.

HOWEVER, to play devil's advocate, perhaps inside the envelope there is a "copy" or "reproduction" stamp. I guess that way it would be saying it's a copy without ruining the look of the envelope.

If I could find a real one I would like it.
But saying that I may only have to settle for a copy.

They dont look too bad, and it will be something I can strive to get in the real thing.

I wouldn't have one in my collection, a fake is a fake. I wouldn't even go for a fake coins to "fill the spot" in the collection. I do however have an altered date 1930 penny (which is of course still a genuine penny if not a 1930). I really only bought it for the letter that went with it from the Mint saying it wasn't a real 1930 penny!

Folks, I have been reading your thread with interest. I have posted for your enjoyment my own Foy and Gibson Type 2 bag. I too have been watching the high prices some of these bags have been attracting; a good long-term investment. I took this photo myself this evening....I reckon it's time to find myself a better photographer.

Very nice jerrabomberra & welcome to the forum.
Your bag looks to be VF or there about, I was thinking seriously of an upgrade myself BUT I will not be purchasing one from anyone unless they have a really good reputation now.
The FAKE carp spoils everything eventually, does'nt it ?
