Such a dramatic price drop will annoy anyone who bought the previous sets

I think that the RCM finally got the message that 2x face value won't work for what is essentially a fancy wrapper esp on what are standard issue coins. The refresh is the reduction in price plus the assertion that these are from the first 5,000 coins minted in Winnipeg for the year.

@AlexA

I agree... I am willing to go along with the 2oz "renewed" series but if this turns into a 5oz "new-renew" then I will be off the bandwagon very quickly. Also.. I agree, a reissue of the 1958 SD was an opportunity missed IMHO
Rest in Peace

They won't redo the 1958 dollar. They didn't realize at the time that the raven at the top of the totem pole represented death. That is why it is called the death dollar. Native groups were unhappy with the depiction in 1958 and the Mint apologized. I can only guess that today's reaction would be unhinged anger and trial-by-media. They won't redo that coin.

They never recalled the devils face bill, just modified or design slightly the hair over the offending curls

Fascinating info on 1958 - thanks
On that basis then most definitely not to be reissued.

The coins are available on the Mint website.

And the "New Renewed 1949-2019 Silver Dollar" in the 5oz format - available for issue price!

Great looking coin. Timeless design.

For March - lower number of coins from RCM plus lower mintage resulting in nearly half sold out within week of public release.

One of the best designs within the commemorative series of circulating silver dollars.

I recently received two 40th Anniversary of GML coins from TSC. One of them has this problem:

Is this imperfection minor or major?

Is that a strikethrough error?
