*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***
I found this penny in bank roll. The Mint Mark is not formed correctly, and the "7" in 1970 is ill formed, such that the west side of the leg of the seven is curved up and the relief of the top of the seven running from east to west is depressed lower than the rest of the numbers in the date. (See images)
Is the I'll formed date and mint mark due to a worn die? Any thoughts?
Looks like the die was polished to remove clash marks, removing part of the field and weakening the date and the mint mark area. No premium for this is is a die event that made to the die. The rest of the coin struck with this die will be the same or it may go through further polishing making it even weaker.
