I have been looking for a 1909 Indian proof and was watching this auction-
http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-Proof-Indi...nt_W0QQitemZ390000184920QQihZ026QQcategoryZ41086QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Being the "due diligence" person I am, I noticed this one right on the first page of his feedback-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...390000150127

At first I thought the coin was returned, then noticed the feedback was left the same day the other was listed. I guess the seller knew it was being returned and listed it right away, I doubt it.

My other thought was he had 2 of the same, well both coins have the same serial number. I understand it is a 3rd rate grading company, or maybe he just used the same pictures, I doubt it.

He could have shilled his listing?
He could be slabbing himself, and they are not 1909 proofs but common 1909 and the buyers do not know any better?
I could be paranoid?
I am delusional?

Needless to say I did not bid on it, still looking for a 1909 Indian head proof..........

I don't understand sellers showing photos of the whole slab (especially here), without detailed photos of the actual coin.
I wouldn't care if that was slabbed by PCGS--I'd want to see that coin in close. Questioning a coin like this is not too paranoid, especially since two recent auctions show the same slab, lol.

Heh, I bet it is a nice brown MS masquerading as a proof in that bunk piece of plastic. Or even worse an AU slider

Very fishy. Buyer left postive feedback and no indication that he/she was returning it or was unhappy. Quite possible that seller has two proofs and was too lazy to take a picture of the second one and just used the first photo as a "stock photo".

I agree that it looks fishy and I wouldn't have bid on it, either. Aside from the obvious anomalies with the sale of the exact same coin, I wouldn't trust a non-top-tier TPG with the grading of this coin anyway.

By the way, Kurt, even if it was in a PCGS slab, I'd want to see both sides of the coin up close - especially since the market grading standards keep changing...
