Who Collects Ozzie Banknotes

Indeed, Australia is a pioneer when it comes to polymer notes. Most of the other countries that issued their own polymer notes were related to at least an Australian company in one way or another. If you are looking for a banknote that is awfully similar to the technology used in the 1988 Bicentenary issue, you should take a look at Singapore 1990 50 dollars note, the second country or rather first country to use Australian technology. I actually remember using a few of such notes when they were released back in that year and stared at the similar devices, and made me wonder if the world is going to get flooded with polymer notes. Unfortunately, it didn't, but will gradually. :)

I've been collecting some 1939/42/61 10/- notes and first series $1 and $2 notes. Mainly because they're old and I can afford them. In good condition I think they have a reasonable chance of holding their value over the coming years too.

I do have a few,but I have never been offered many.The most interesting ones I have are the Hutt River Province Principality's banknotes,which have been issued since 1974 by Prince Leonard I.

Although Aussie was the first British Commonwealth country to issue polymer plastic banknotes,it was not the first British Commonwealth country to issue a plastic banknote.That honour belongs to the Isle of Man,which issued a 1 Pound that was printed on Bradvek,
which is a plastic-type material similar to Tyvek.

The Plastic Quid is listed as P38.It is unique in one other respect.It is a green colour,whereas,the others are purple.It took me years to find one,but I eventually got one,as I collect British Commonwealth banknotes avidly,especially those in British Africa.
