Hello all!
Acquired this nice 1867 english 3 pence. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that Victoria's head is also visible in negative relief on the reverse. (The tip of her nose is right at the 1 in the date).
Not sure if this is a strike-through or a type of brockage.
There are also some extra features above Victoria's forehead and tip of the neck.
So what do you guys think, as far as grade, interest and value is concerned?

As far as grade goes maybe XF there are some rim dings, some wear on the hair and maybe the shoulder? As well as the top of the crown and leaves. I think the rim dings might take it out of AU. But the interest is certainly there. Great find and good eye!

I am tempted to disagree with the die clash theory. it almost looks like you can actually make out some of the cuts in the hair on the underlying imprint on the reverse. if that is the case, then what you have would be some form of brockage (where the image imprinted on the reverse is not from the obverse die contacting the reverse die, but from an actual coin obverse contacting the coin reverse). remember, everything that is raised on the coin is cut into the die, therefore any of the hair details would be recessed and would not show on a die clash.

Thanks for the input!
Kuhli - thanks especially for scrutinizing the type of error. I was hoping it to be a brockage, rather than a more common error. =)
