1900 Morgan Dollar "we" Lightly Stamped

Bilbo Pillar of the Community United States 812 Posts	Posted 09/22/2008 8:34 pm The most likely explanation is that this is a "strike through" error. Probably some grease accumulated in the die, filling the word "WE." When it struck the planchet to make the coin, the word was struck very weakly. This is a "mint error" but typically there is no premium for this type of error. Report this Post to the Staff

Maybe one of our Morgan experts can give an opinion on the 1 in the 1891 you have pictured. It doesn't look odd to me. The toning around the date is a bit unusual, but I've certainly seen stranger toning patterns. One more thing: welcome to the forum! Report this Post to the Staff
